FAQs

Do other companies offer the same services as Santa Fe Mountain Adventures?

Santa Fe Mountain Adventures is unique in providing outdoor adventure integrated with holistic, cultural and spiritual programming. Our innovative program—which combines active sports like hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding and mountain biking with cultural and soul-nourishing activities like cooking classes, arts and culture adventures—is unlike anything else in northern New Mexico. We turn unique individual activities into a total adventure experience.

Does the program fee include lodging?

The program fee does not include lodging. Guests can stay at one of our Partner Hotels or anywhere they wish in Santa Fe, maximizing choice for participants in our program.

Why should I stay in a Partner Hotel?

By staying in one of our luxurious Partner Hotels and participating in our program, guests receive the most convenient transportation from their hotel to our adventure venues, and outstanding dining and spa services in their hotel. Our Partner Hotels— La Posada de Santa Fe Resort & Spa, Encantado (an Auberge Resort) and the Inn and Spa at Loretto—offer packages combining lodging with our program, or guests can simply reserve a room and space in our program.

How long should I stay?

We recommend a stay of three days or more to more fully sample the adventures offered in our program, but a stay of any length is beneficial.

Can children participate in the program?

We offer a family adventure program for families with children age 6 and up. Activities in this program include stargazing, mountain treasure hunts and family cooking classes. Click here to read more about our family program.

Who will be leading my adventures?

Santa Fe Mountain Adventures outings are led by accomplished local guides who are intimate with the outdoor playgrounds of northern New Mexico. Many of them also have experience in guiding for nationally known outdoor leadership schools. Our guides share their extensive knowledge about the activities and settings we explore and are well-trained and certified in first aid. For some activities where guides require specialized experience, such as fly-fishing and whitewater rafting, we have partnered with leading outfitters to host our guests.

Is it fun to be outdoors in Santa Fe in the winter? Is it cold, like Colorado, or warm, like Arizona?

Although summer is the most popular time to visit Santa Fe, many residents actually prefer winter. The frequent, albeit brief, dustings of snow give town a charming feel, and the climate is mild enough to make winter outings fun and adventurous, not brutal and tooth-numbing. Northern New Mexico’s climate is somewhere between Colorado’s and Arizona’s—sunny and appealing during most days but cold enough to snow and therefore to ski and snowshoe.

Where are the pickup and dropoff locations for the morning adventures and other remote activities?

Guests in our program are picked up and dropped off outside our Partner Hotels, all very close to or on the Plaza.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations for leisure guests made within one week of the start of the program forfeit the deposit (one day's fee) that we hold at the time of the reservation. Cancellations made more than one week in advance receive a full refund. Group programs usually have a one month cancellation period.

Will I need to sign a release waiver to participate in the program?

All guests must review and sign a release waiver prior to their participation in the program.
